This is the larger version of a study. By increasing the size from 11x14 TO 30x40, the painting completely changed. This one has lots of texture in the ground and paint layers and differs slightly from the original in color and design. I love painting this big!

I really like the fact that this reading woman ended up outdoors rather than in her original setting indoors on a couch. The blobs in the background suggest flowers on some kind of structure.

This painting really works for me in that it's angular, has minimal colors and the face is slightly abstract. It seems that she is between activities or thoughts, wholly comfortable in the moment.
