The painting has been accepted in the TAG Gallery California Open Exhibit, Santa Monica, and will on display Aug 8-24 and may be purchased through the gallery.

One of my favorite topics is the Three Muses, or Graces. In this case I was inspired by Pradier's gorgeous marble sculpture in the Louvre but I changed the arm and head positions. The fun part for me is that I started with an abstract painting and covered over everything except the area of the dresses. So the somewhat realistic faces contrast with the flat abstract pattern below.

This is a study I did recently from a model wearing a buttercup yellow shirt and head scarf. I loved painting her face and the folds of fabric in her shirt and scarf. Happily, I was able to abbreviate things a bit and not get stuck on all the details I saw.

I have no idea where this idea came from. I simply wanted to picture three nude women dancing or at play - and the dove appeared. This is mostly an experiment painting flesh and using odd but interesting color choices overall.
