I painted this several years ago but recently changed major parts including the face and background. This has just been accepted for a downtown Los Angeles art show (Studio C) whose subject is sensuous women.

I have no idea where this idea came from. I simply wanted to picture three nude women dancing or at play - and the dove appeared. This is mostly an experiment painting flesh and using odd but interesting color choices overall.

Well, it's a small painting with a big title. I experimented with some markers around the figures, and used gold in the sky. Two small pieces of collage paper adorn their hair.

All the layers are acrylic but I used colored pencil on the top to model this figure. The surface of the painting is lively because of all the cross-hatched pencil strokes of color. I like the sense of calm and privacy. I also like the slight confusion about who is inside. Is it the bird or the woman? I think of the roses as wallpaper, but they could be real and outside on a trellis.

I submitted this painting to a show with the following thoughts:

My own sense of emotional and spiritual balance is dependent on the people in my life. Together we find an equilibrium that is also individual. Here I suggest a state of balance with three women supporting each other. They are like a stable triangle or pyramid in an equal-sided canvas. Each figure is a primary color and together they form a triad out of which all colors are created. Making art provides me with a profound sense of stability even though the process is tumultuous and the results uneven.

This is the first of some small drawings/paintings on watercolor paper using various media including pencil, ink, pastel and acrylic which has been fixed with acrylic spray varnish. The size is odd because I just started drawing on a slightly bluish paper. This one was really fun.

This painting won First Prize at The TAG Gallery Open Exhibition 2009

I loved painting this big (for me) canvas of figures. It was fun including some small still life scenes at the edges of the scene, and using essentially monochromatic colors. Somehow the idea came to me to paint the standing figure listening to the ocean in a shell. So I made the landscape out the window rural, suggesting that the sea is far away.
