I submitted this painting to a show with the following thoughts:

My own sense of emotional and spiritual balance is dependent on the people in my life. Together we find an equilibrium that is also individual. Here I suggest a state of balance with three women supporting each other. They are like a stable triangle or pyramid in an equal-sided canvas. Each figure is a primary color and together they form a triad out of which all colors are created. Making art provides me with a profound sense of stability even though the process is tumultuous and the results uneven.
