Woman With Cat, 24" x 24", acrylic on canvas

This painting was a first for me in that I did not use a model as reference for the figure. I just made it up. I'm pleased with the pose which although awkward makes sense structurally. The curves of the arms suggested that the woman hold something - and this black cat came to mind. Curves within curves.

Love this painting, Marie. Love all your zaftig ladies with their massive thighs, and attitude. Great work!
Such a nice composition and one that most models couldn't manage even for a moment.
It's marvelous that you did it from memory and imagination.
Finally an artist that shows the real women.
Like the way she is only just fitting into the frame - yet she looks arrogantly comfortable there. Almost like she is saying "What are you looking at?" How did the different process feel? Normally do you photograph the model and work from images?
A short note to share a thought your work evoked. Thanks for slowing my day and giving me a heartbeat of beauty. Mike
