There are about six versions underneath the current painting. The woman lounging in her chair was always present, as were the moon and water. But the arms and legs have assumed various poses over time and the background rearranged itself and the colors shifted. Finally I'm happy with the pose and mood. The scene is no longer cute (moon peeking in window) - which had been the main source of my dissatisfaction.

I would love to see these paintings in real life. I always check the size and I imagine the impact seeing them at the real size. The colours here are lovely, those touches of red just right. As to the moon - don't you feel Marie that we have to "develop" that consciousness of what is working and what isn't. For a long time I would turn a blind eye to my instinct of what was not quite working for me in one of my own paintings. Then I almost dragged that subconscious reaction into my conscious mind. And the more we do it the easier it becomes. It all sounds a bit philosophical (or psychological?) but for me it's really important.
