All the layers are acrylic but I used colored pencil on the top to model this figure. The surface of the painting is lively because of all the cross-hatched pencil strokes of color. I like the sense of calm and privacy. I also like the slight confusion about who is inside. Is it the bird or the woman? I think of the roses as wallpaper, but they could be real and outside on a trellis.
